The organisers of the annual gold label Okpekpe road race Padmodzi sports international has introduced Raymond Dokpesi race as part of races to be competed for at this year’s race on may 25, 2024
The race schedule according to the organisers will be running in five race categories
The first will be the elite race, which is for the prize money, the second category of runners will be those running for a cause, while the third set of runners will be running for fun
The organisers also included space for runners who are predominantly indegenes of okpekpe town,
The innovation for this year’s race is the category that has been reserved for runners in the name of running for late Raymond Dokpesi
Speaking to ait.live on phone the chief executive officer of Padmodzi sports international Mike Itemuagbor said the race for late Raymond Dokpesi is particularly important following the support the road race label had received and is still receiving from Daar Communications plc
Itemiagbor said the first edition of the race will be significant as it will hold just four days before the first anniversary of Dokpesi’s death on may 29, 2023
