The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has expressed deep concern over the level of insecurity in the country.
Reacting to a recent video that has gone viral showing victims of hijacked Kaduna-Abuja train being whipped by bandits, Ortom
said it was regrettable that such act is being witnessed at this time.
Governor Ortom stated this at the Government house Makurdi while addressing key stakeholders of his Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) on Monday.
He said the threats to abduct President Muhammadu Buhari and other top government functionaries further underscores how low the country has sunk.
It was the first official engagement of the Governor since his visits to the United Kingdom and United States of America.

Addressing the gathering, Ortom provided insights into his visits abroad which he said has changed the narrative about the attacks in his Benue State and other parts of the country.
He rued the recent attacks on Kuje prison in Abuja and the viral video of victims of the ill fated Kaduna Abuja Train attack yet to be rescued and subjected to inhuman treatment by their assailants.
The Governor however disclosed plans to formally launch a State security outfit which will compliment the efforts of the conventional security to tackle insecurity in the State.
On the local political scene, Ortom said he was glad the PDP shied away from imposing candidates unlike other political parties that are now faced with litigations within and outside their parties.
