The twin sister of the late gospel singer Osinachi, Amarachi Eze, says her sister died of constant abuse by her husband, Peter Nwachukwu.

Amarachi, while giving her evidence-in-chief, told the court that her sister confided in her on how the husband constantly kicked and punched her in the chest, and all over her body.

It was an emotional rendition, as Amarachi Eze, the twin sister of the late gospel singer Nwachukwu testified in court on Tuesday.

The 42-year-old, who is also a gospel artiste, while giving her evidence, said that in Osinachi’s 12 years of marriage, she never visited her in her house until she died.

Since no one in the family was allowed to visit, their mother only visited the Nwachukwu home due to her ill health, and she was allowed to stay for only two weeks, upon the intervention of Dr. pastor Becky Eneche.

Amarachi also said that Osinachi called her, saying Peter had warned that their mother would not stay in his house.

This prompted the family to call someone they knew, to enable their mother to stay at the person’s house for one month, whilst on medication.

She also told the court that after that period, her mother never visited Osinachi and her family again, as they only met whenever Osinachi came to Enugu for ministration, and they never spent more than 30 minutes together.

Amarachi also noted that while Osinachi was pregnant with her first child, Peter beat her up till she was admitted to the hospital.

She added that a nurse in the hospital called her at about 2 am the next morning, saying that the defendant had taken Osinachi out of the hospital, without proper medications administered.

According to Amarachi, it was after her second pregnancy that Osinachi started complaining of stomach pains, which could have been a result of the constant abuse.

On one occasion, her sister requested to stay, but her husband beat her up with a mop stick.

Amarachi also mentioned that Peter went as far as removing Osinachi’s name from the list of visitors to their children’s school.

She told the court that Osinachi did not die of ulcer, rather it was as a result of the constant beatings from her husband, as he kicked and punched her always.

She said the abuse led to Osinachi being hospitalized, and while in the hospital, Peter continued his hostility towards her.

The witness maintained that Osinachi was off and on Oxygen, while on bed rest, as a result of the constant trauma she went through.

Amarachi further said Peter made sure she left the hospital, leaving her sister, and that was the last time she saw her sister alive.

After Amarachi’s testimony, the counsel asked for an adjournment, as the family needed to return to Enugu, in preparation for Osinachi’s burial.

Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme, therefore, adjourned to July 15.

Osinachi Nwachukwu will be laid to rest on Friday, 24th, in Enugu State, where she hails from.
