Osun State Government has ordered a dusk to dawn curfew in a bid to contain the second wave of COVID-19 cases across the state.

The curfew will be observed everyday from 10:00 pm till 5:00 am. The Government also threatened to impose a fresh lockdown on the state should the number of residents who test positive for the virus increase.

Considering the surge in the numbers of COVID-19 cases in the state, the government also announced new guidelines for its residents to enforce non-pharmaceutical safety protocols.

The government declares that no social events should hold forthwith without the approval of the government.

In a statement released and signed by the Secretary to the state government, Wole Oyebamiji disclosed that after obtaining the approval, the gathering must not exceed 50 participants.

Osun government also ordered civil servants from Grade Level 12 and below to work from home with effect from Monday, January 25th, till further notice and expressed readiness to increase its testing capacity across all local government areas.

The state governor, Gboyega Oyetola had earlier ordered all members of his cabinet to go for COVID-19 test as a result of spike in the cases recorded in the state.

Citizens are also enjoined not to be presumptuous, but to ascertain their status by taking a COVID-19 test, stressing that the test is free
