Osun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling plastic pollution through the reduction, reuse and recycling of plastic wastes in the state.
This was revealed at a 2 day training on Circular Economy and Waste-to-wealth creation organized to build waste management professionals in Osun State.
With over 70% of Nigeria’s waste especially plastic bottles being mismanaged, the resulting pollution contributes to soil degradation, water contamination and air pollution.
Osun state government is changing the narrative through a practical training on Circular Economy and Waste-to-wealth management for youths and women in the State.

A consultant to the state government on climate change and renewable energy, Professor Chinwe Igwe, at the training said the initiative aims to promote the transformation of waste materials into valuable products, in line with global efforts to reduce pollution, create jobs, and foster environmental resilience.
During the theoretical aspect of the training, participants applauded the state government for its efforts towards job creation through waste management
