Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has commenced the enrollment of inmates from the Ilesa and Ile-Ife Correctional Centres in its free health programme.
This was announced by the Executive Secretary of the Osun Health Insurance Agency, Dr Razaq Akindele during a press briefing on Tuesday.
Akindele explained that the approval followed a passionate appeal by the Osun State Controller of Corrections Centres, Olalekan Oluwadele, during a courtesy visit to the governor.
Akindele said the health of inmates, who will eventually be reintegrated into society, remains the concern of the Governor, describing the gesture as devoid of political intrigues
The State Controller of Corrections service, Olalekan Rotimi Oluwadele said hitherto, the Federal Government was solely responsible for inmates healthcare, and Governor Adeleke’s intervention will significantly improve inmates access to medical services
Inmates were urged to reciprocate the governor’s gesture by obeying correctional rules and preparing for their reintegration into society with healthy minds and bodies.
