The Osun State house of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Ademola Adeleke to forward findings on the allegations against the chief Judge of the state, Justice Adepele Ojo to the National Judicial Council.
The Speaker of the assembly, RT Hon Wale Egbedun said the assembly received several petitions from residents bordering on allegations of misappropriation of funds, gross misconduct, and lack of respect for due process and the rule of law amongst other allegations against justice ojo .
The chairman of the house committee on Judiciary, human rights, public petitions and legal matters, Kanmi Ajibola said the Assembly in exercising Its investigative powers vested it, deemed it fit to investigate the petitions submitted by residents .
In his remark, the speaker of the house, Adewale egbedun noted that the assembly is not working to take over the functions of the NJC, saying that the report of the committee and resolutions of the assembly including the certified true copies of all documents received as evidence, would be made available to the Executive Governor for onward transmission to the National Judicial Council for Further action.
The speaker also noted that pending the outcome of the investigation by the National Judicial Council the House would stand by its earlier resolution of 17th of November, 2023 suspending the chief judge of the state.
