In order to achieve a circular economy, Nigeria must continue to implement the policy initiatives that have been developed in recent years and draw on international best practice
This was the discussion of over 50 heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies across osun state, working towards climate change, circular economy and renewable energy for a sustainable future.
At an interactive session prof. Chinwe Obuaku-Igwe said that for Nigeria to transition to a circular economy, there is a need to promote a sustainable and resilient socio-economic transformation while also promoting opportunities for the most vulnerable people in the rural communities.
Prof. Obuaku while stressing that osun is putting the nature, people, lives, and livelihoods at the forefront of the battle against climate change said the state has also achieved greatly in Climate Change and the establishment of a state recycling hub.
Representatives of MDAs responded by highlighting their peculiar challenges, ranging from erosion and waste management to environmental health risks.
