For some time now, Osun State has been in the news over local government crisis and the withholding of 6months local government allocation by the federal government

To ease the hardship grassroots residents of osun state are Appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to have a second thought on the withheld local government allocations noting that people of Osun State deserve peace, and local government workers and teachers deserve their pay.

Since January 2025 the Federal Government and Osun State government have been at logger heads over the status of the financial autonomy of its LG Council administrations, resulting to the reported withholding of statutory allocations meant for the 30 Local Governments for the past 6 consecutive months.

Residents of osun state have called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure that the federal revenue allocations to Osun state is released to prevent anarchy in the state despite the ruling of the Court of Appeal.

Speaking at an event on how the state government has been managing the situation for over 6 months Commissioner for information Kolapo Alimi said government has been using funds initially meant for its various developmental projects to pay different categories of workers who draw salaries from the local government allocation.

Many osun residents believe governor Ademola Adeleke is doing everything possible to reduce the effects of the withheld funds by ensuring continuous payments of local government
employees.
