As part of measures to check the high number of out-of-school children in Benue State, authorities have launched a Free Enrollment Drive Campaign and Sensitisation Programme for Benue North-West Senatorial District.

The event by the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB aims at encouraging parents to enroll their children in Early Childhood Care Development Education Centres, Public Primary, and Junior Secondary Schools which is free.

Recent statistics released by the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA reveals that the Benue North West Senatorial district has the highest number of out-of-school children as a result of displacement caused by prolonged insecurity, necessitating the enrolment drive and sensitisation programme in Makurdi, the state capital.

SUBEB Executive Chairman, Grace Adagba urges participants as well as critical stakeholders to make the most of the free universal basic education opportunity offered in the state public schools.

Member of the international award winning Presidential Debate Team, Sonia Aduba gave her account of the positive impact of quality education on a child’s life.

With the successful launch of the enrolment drive comes great hope that the ever-increasing number of displaced, out-of-school children in the Senatorial District will begin to sufficiently thin out.
