Poultry farmers in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State, have so far lost over 10,000 birds as a result of a strange disease.
The farmers attributed the loss to the recent intensive heat being recorded in the area in the last few days.
In an interview with some of the affected farmers, they described the development as unfortunate, saying that their poultry business has suffered a major challenge.

They are therefore calling on Niger State Government to come to their aid, by ensuring that they are not out of business.
Officials of the Niger State Ministry For Livestock and Fisheries Development, expressed ignorance, when contacted over the outbreak of the disease.
The ministry officials added that they will deploy personnel to the area for assessment.
