The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Zamfara State, has convened a stakeholder’s meeting, to brainstorm on how to sensitize eligible voters, to participate in the Voter’s Registration, which the commission is expected to commence soon, in another round of the registration, on Monday, 8th Màrch.

The state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Professor Sai’du Ahmad, said over 45,000 Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, have not been collected.

He appealed to those who have registered and have not collected their PVC, to go claim them, to enable them to participate in the 2023 general election.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Zamfara State, Professor Sai’du Ahmad, told the stakeholders that the Commission had increased the number of polling units that were used during the 2019 general elections, from 2,516 to 3,529, after the recent conversion of the voting points and voting point settlements to polling units, geared towards increasing voter’s access to Polling Units.

The Zamfara State Resident Electoral Commissioner disclosed that the insecurity which led to the shutting down of Telecom services, was one of the challenges that had adversely affected the Continuous Online Voters Registration in the state.
