The kingdom of Saudi Arabia says the country is offering scholarships to students from Africa who are willing to study in the country with more than 3,200 Nigerians already graduated from their universities over the past decade.
Vice President for Educational and Academic Affairs at King Khalid University, Prof. Saad Bin Dajem, said this in Abuja during the opening of the Forum of Saudi Arabian Universities Alumni in Nigeria and Neighbouring Countries.
According to Dajem, more than 3,200 Nigerians have graduated from Saudi Arabian universities over the past decade and that Saudi Arabia remains open to admitting more Nigerians into its higher institutions.
He assured Nigeria that prospective students from the country would continue to enjoy favourable admission terms and study conditions.
He also noted that his country has a scholarship scheme which is available to all, irrespective of religion.
On the prospect of Nigerian graduates in Saudi Arabia, Dajem said graduates who wish to pursue higher degrees after their first degree are allowed to continue, and those whose skills are needed stand the chance to be employed.
Nigeria’s Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Said Ahmad, commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its long-standing commitment to educational cooperation and cultural institutions with Nigeria at both the regional and international levels.
The Abuja gathering of Experts and academics featured dialogue sessions and presentations that showcased the contributions of graduates to key sectors such as education, economy, agriculture, media, and charitable work.
