Oyo State Govt Drops Charges Against Queen Naomi, Oriyomi, Fasasi In Children Funfair Tragic Stampede Case

In a stunning development, the Oyo State Government on Thursday withdrew all charges against Queen Naomi Silekunola, Oriyomi Hamzat, and Abdullahi Fasasi, who were implicated in the tragic stampede that resulted in the loss of 35 young lives during a children’s funfair in December 2024

Justice Ladiran Akintola has therefore ordered the immediate return of the defendants’ international passports and documents, which were seized to prevent them from leaving the country.

The defendants were seen smiling and exchanging pleasantries with their supporters outside the courtroom on Thursday.

According to the Oyo State Attorney General, Abiodun Aikomo, the accused persons cooperated fully with the investigation, which ultimately revealed that the incident was an accident.

The proprietor of Agidigbo Fm, the patterning Radio for the funfair, Oriyomi Hamzat said the ill fated occurrence has thought him a big lessons in life.

This outcome brings to a close the judicial trial of the accused persons in relation to unfortunate incident.
