The Police in Kogi State on Thursday confirmed the release of Isa Ozi-Salami, a Member representing Kogi State on the Governing Board of the Hydroelectric Power Area Producing Development Commission, HYPPADEC, by his abductors, 15 days after he was taken away.
Superintendent of Police William Aya, who is the Public Relations Officer for the Police Command in a statement, said that Ozi-Salami has since been reunited with his family.
He said that the 73-year-old elder statesman was released on Wednesday evening, but did not state if any ransom was paid to secure his release.
He said that the abductors abandoned him somewhere, from where he found his way home.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the command is still trailing the abductors to bring them to book.
Ozi-Salami, a notable politician, was kidnapped at his country home on May 26, at Ogaminana, in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, just when he was returning from morning prayers at the mosque.
The kidnappers had demanded the sum of N120 million as a ransom.
