Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri says, offering palliatives to the masses is not the permanent solution to the economic hardships in the country.
The governor says though he is not against palliatives, he is more concerned with putting in place the right structure and systems that will address the economic challenges.
Diri made the remarks during the Easter Sunday service at the Saint Peter’s Anglican Church in his community, Sampou, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state.
He further says his administration is initiating policies and programmes that would bring about long-term empowerment to people of the state rather than short-term palliatives.
On the significance of the Easter celebration, Diri advises Christians to imbibe the virtues of trust, honesty and faithfulness in order to have a better society.
