The paramount ruler of Atyap Chiefdom, Dominic Yahaya has applauded the efforts of security operatives in restoring peace to Southern Kaduna, noting that the improved security situation there enabled farmers to enjoy bountiful harvests in 2024.

The Agwa Atyap made this statement during the annual Atyap Cultural Festival held in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Southern Kaduna has faced years of violent attacks and killings by bandits, with Atyap Chiefdom being one of the hardest-hit areas.

From 2023 to date, relative peace has returned to the region, enabling the revival of economic activities.

The traditional ruler acknowledged these positive changes and credited the collaborative efforts of security agencies.

Retired Major General Zamani Lekwot also commended the Nigerian military and other security operatives for their dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the area.

Meanwhile, the Atyap Council of Chiefs has called on the government and well-meaning individuals to introduce empowerment programs for youths and women, saying such initiatives, will help curb youth restiveness and reduce criminal activities in the area.
