Morocco has defeated North African rivals, Egypt 6-0 to secure the bronze medal in men’s football at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics.
Achraf Hakimi sealed the victory in the 87th minute, while Soufianné Rahimi scored a brace to help Morocco earn their first-ever medal in Olympic football.
Abde Ezzalzouli opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, followed by Soufianné’s first goal three minutes later, giving Morocco a 2-0 lead at halftime. Bilal El Khannous extended the lead to 3-0 six minutes into the second half, before Soufianné completed his brace four minutes after the hour mark for a 4-0 lead.
Akram Nakach’s 73rd-minute goal put the game beyond Egypt’s reach, and Achraf Hakimi’s late strike sealed the convincing win.
Attention now shifts to the men’s football final between Spain and France on Friday at the Parc des Princes.
