Administrative activities may be crippled in Nigeria’s state houses of assembly as the parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASSAN, an affiliate workers union of the Nigeria Labour Congress has directed its members to begin an indefinite strike.
At a briefing in Abuja, the National President of PASSAN, Usman Mohammed said the action became inevitable, following government’s unwillingness to grant financial autonomy to state judiciaries and legislatures.

The union, which at different times in the past issued 21, 14 and 7-day strike notices to the federal government over their demand, has called on the national assembly and the presidency to intervene to avoid a total collapse of administrative activities in state legislatures nationwide
