The Presidential Committee on Compressed Natural Gas Conversion, has called for proper maintenance of trucks conveying gas and petroleum products on major highways to avert disasters such as Wednesday’s incident at Karu on the Abuja- Keffi Highway.

That incident caused the death of at least six persons with dozens injured.

Chief Executive and Program Director of PCNGI, Michael Oluwagbemi made the Call on Thursday during the inspection of the accident scene.

Oluwagbemi commiserated with the victims and their relatives, and emphasized the need for increased safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols at accident scenes.

The PCNGI reiterated its commitment to promoting the safe use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles, which he says are a safer alternative to traditional fuel-powered vehicles.
