Heavy security presence at the National Headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as National Vice Chairman, North Central, Abdulrahman Mohammed, assumes office as party’s Acting National Chairman in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Mohammed and his supporters had earlier gathered at the FCT office of the PDP, where he addressed them that he will be taking over as the Acting National Chairman.
Abdulrahman Mohammed was declared Acting National Chairman, by the Samuel Anyanwu-faction of the National Working Committee, NWC, after it announced the suspension of the National Chairman, Umar Damagun and National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

While the Acting National Chairman of the Anyanwu faction of the NWC assumed office at the PDP National Headquarters, the embattled National Chairman, Umar Damagun and other NWC members loyal to him, were conspicuously not in sight.
Recall that Damagun and some NWC members had announced the suspension of the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature and other principal officers of the party.
In a swift reaction, Anyanwu faction of the PDP National Working Committee met to suspend the National Chairman, Umar Damagun, the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba and four other principal officers of the party.
