The Board of Trustees, (BoT)of the Peoples Democratic Party has moved to resolve the party’s current crisis by setting up a six-member reconciliation committee.
The committee, which is chaired by Hassan Adamu has a representative from each of the six geopolitical zones of the country.
The NWC led by the National Chairman, Umar Damagum, suspended the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and three others last week for alleged anti-party activities.
In the same vein, Anyanwu led four members of the NWC to suspend Damagum and five National Officers, accusing Damagum in particular of incompetence and causing the gale of defections that the party has withneesed so far.
However, the BoT, after an emergency meeting chaired by its Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara in Abuja appointed the committee to see to the resolution of the differences between the two parties,
The BoT also, among other resolutions, says while it would not take sides with any of the warring groups, reaffirmed that the PDP remained united under the Damagum-led NWC and applauded the ruling of an Oyo State High Court which recognised the rights of the PDP to regulate its internal affairs.
