President Bola Tinubu has been urged to rethink and develop a strategy to address the current economic challenges facing the country.
A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Edward Masha, made this call during a media parley with journalists in Kaduna, ahead of the party’s upcoming Congress and the local government elections in the state.
Masha emphasized the need for the federal government to address the issues arising from the removal of fuel subsidy and the skyrocketing prices of foodstuffs in Nigerian markets.
Speaking on the steps the PDP plans to take to revamp the party and resolve disputes among aggrieved members, Masha also addressed the matter of full local government autonomy.
He appealed to the National Assembly and the federal government to enact laws that would allow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to assume responsibility for conducting local government elections, rather than the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM).
The meeting suggested that if PDP members unite and work together as a team, they could take over power at both the state and national levels in 2027.
