The Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Umar Iliya Damagum has condemned the sealing of the Party’s National Secretariat by Officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration on Monday saying it is a move to mar Democracy.
Rising from a closed doors meeting with PDP’s Governors and other key stakeholders of the Party to deliberate on crisis rocking the Party, Damagum says the action of the FCTA is the height of irresponsibility that will be resisted.
The meeting, which commenced at about 5pm Monday, primarily focused on resolving the escalating crisis involving the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and deepening internal crisis and operational challenges facing the party.
Wike recently withdrew from peace talks and accused key leaders of the Party, including Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde of dishonesty.
The Caucus meeting is also expected to look into the shutdown of the Party’s National Secretariat by the Federal Capital Territory Administration over unpaid ground rent spanning 28 years.
While the Acting National Chairman adjoined the Caucus meeting to Tuesday, the unexpected closure of the PDP’s Secretariat forced it to relocate its operations pending the resolution of the matter.
