The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has announced an emergency meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee, NEC scheduled to hold on Tuesday, in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
According to a notice issued and signed by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu shared by the media aide to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka on his X handle, both meetings are scheduled to hold at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, at Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The notice stated that the BoT meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m., while the NEC meeting will follow at 2:00 p.m.
The notice says attendance is very important as crucial matters will be discussed and addressed.
Recall that the PDP at its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State on Saturday, expelled several high-profile members, including Nyesom Wike, Samuel Anyanwu, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu, and some others for alleged anti-party activities.
The motion for their expulsion was moved by former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Bode George, and seconded by the Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Samaila Buga.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, subsequently put the motion to a voice vote, which was overwhelmingly endorsed by delegates, signalling the party’s resolve to confront internal dissent and anti-party conduct within its ranks.
Meanwhile, the newly elected PDP National Chairman, Tanimu Turaki says members are ready to stake their lives to resist opposition forces as he reveals that an inaugural meeting of new officers of the National Working Committee, NWC will also hold on Tuesday at the PDP National Secretariat, in Wadata Plaza, at 8am, barely two hours before the meeting scheduled by the Wike faction.
