The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ended its 101st National Executive Committee (NN EC) meeting, announcing Saturday, November 15 to Sunday, November 16, 2025 as the dates for its elective National Convention in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, in the Southwest region of Nigeria.
According to the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba who briefed Journalists at the end of the closed door session, said the PDP NEC has directed the Acting National Chairman and National Secretary to formally notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the Party’s planned Convention.
The much anticipated date for the elective National Convention of internal crisis rocked Nigeria’s main opposition party was part of the resolutions reached at the meeting of its highest decision making organ on Thursday in Abuja.
The NEC also approved the membership of the National Convention Committee and the Zoning Committee, to ensure transparent and credible electoral process.
Ologunagba stated that the party leadership expressed satisfaction with the resolution of internal disputes, describing it as a demonstration of the PDP’s commitment to dialogue and unity.
He added that the party remains united, strong, and well-positioned to offer a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In another resolution, the PDP NEC disclosed plans to initiate legal action to recover legislative seats held by members who have defected to other parties, citing constitutional provisions that render such seats vacant.
The NEC further expressed concerns over reports of PDP members participating in the activities of other political parties, and called for renewed loyalty, discipline, and commitment to the party’s ideals.
The party reaffirmed its willingness to collaborate with like-minded individuals and groups in what it described as a collective effort to rescue Nigeria from the APC- led government.
The PDP also announced that its next National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting will take place on Monday, August 25, 2025.
