Frontline aspirant for the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Anambra State, Obiora Okonkwo, has expressed displeasure at the plight of pensioners in the country.

Speaking at his Ogidi country home, during a solidarity visit by political stalwarts in the state, Okonkwo said it was disheartening that pensioners had to publicly ask for their pensions.

Okonkwo spoke against the backdrop of rising agitations by pensioners in the country for the payment of their update differentials on their pension.

According to the business magnet, both pensioners and workers are deserving of their wages.

Obiora Okonkwo warned that it is even against biblical injunctions for workers to be owed their wages, adding that it was more painful to see people who had served the country protest before their pensions are paid.

He told the PDP leaders that his vision for Anambra State, if he becomes the Governor will be to ensure regular and unhindered payment of pensions and gratuities to retirees.

The PDP leading governorship aspirant who already has a framework to address the issues, noted that salaries, pensions and gratuities should be guaranteed as they are not things to play games with.
