Some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State have asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) to declare the seats of Governor Umo Eno, National and State Legislators and Local Government Chairmen who defected to the APC vacant.

The stakeholders made the demand while addressing the Media in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The group which calls itself “Concerned PDP Stakeholders” in the State led by Jeremiah Akpanudoh have come out to demand that the mandate of the Party given to defected Governor Eno, both the national and State legislators as well as Local Government Areas chairmen be retrieved by the relevant electoral bodies.

The opposition Party stakeholders are asking the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to reorganize the State Executive Committee of the Party as the current leadership is compromised.

Akpanudoh described the action of the Governor as insensitive as he abandoned the Party, instead of joining hands to resolve the internal dispute, insisting that the action of the Gov. Umo Eno of jumping the political ship is not a quality of a great leader..

Already, the PDP at the national level is in Court over the defection of the Delta State Governor and other elected office holders from the party in the State who recently joined the ruling APC. This leaves to the question on whether the Party will toe the same path in current developments in Akwa Ibom State.
