Former Imo State Governor and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, has resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ihedioha in a statement personally signed by him, alleged that the opposition party, PDP has taken a path that is at variance with his personal beliefs.
The ex-Governor also noted the Party’s inability to carry out internal reforms and offer credible opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as part of the reason for his quit..
ait.live investigations into the latest development in the PDP reveal that the former Imo State Governor’s decision may not be unconnected to the lingering issues in the Imo State chapter of the Party, especially between the political camp of Ihedioha and that of the National Secretary of the PDP, Samuel Anyanwu.
The National leadership of the PDP had at its last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting reached a decision to close ranks in the Party through a Disciplinary and Reconciliatory Committee which they believe could resolve several issues in Nigeria’s main opposition Party.
