PDP opts for consensus arrangement to elect ward executives

Ahead of the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party slated for October, party members in Kwara state have elected their ward executives across the 193 wards of the State with most wards adopting consensus arrangement.

The party members who participated in the peaceful exercise across some of the wards monitored by ait.live on Saturday expressed optimism of winning the 2023 general elections.

The exercise which started late in the state witnessed large turnout by the members. At Ajikobi central ward in Ilorin West local government area of the State which is also the ward of the immediate past Senate president, Bukola Saraki, party members were seen in their numbers participating in the process of electing their ward executives

Some of the newly elected ward executives said the affirmation arrangement is a sign of victory for the party in the coming 2023 general elections.

other party stakeholders expressed satisfaction with the consensus arrangement adopted in the exercise.

Elsewhere ,PDP ward congresses also held in Lagos State, however the turn out was low in some wards visited and high in others.

The exercise was also conducted without rancour.

In Adamawa State, PDP members elected their ward executives through consensus.

Head of the panel sent by the national secretariat to conduct the Congress,Bauchi State Deputy Governor Baba Tella, monitored some wards in Yola North, Yola South and Girei Local Government Areas.

He also commended party faithful for conducting themselves in an orderly manner during the exercise.

The party says in the case of death, defection, or that an executive has already served two terms, the people are expected to conduct a fresh congress.

Mohammed Bello, an executive at Bako Ward in Yola South also commended the process of the congress.

Wards monitored by ait.live include Yelwa, Alkalawa and Nasarawo Wards in Yola North Local Government Area.

Others were in the Girei Local Government Area and Bako ward in Yola South Local Government Area of the state.
