President BolaTinubu’s ally and APC’s preferred candidate Senator Opeyemi Bamidele has been appointed Leader of the 10th Senate.
The president of the Senate Godswill Akpabio made the announcement during plenary on Tuesday.
A letter signed by the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) named the former Governor of Ebonyi state and lawmaker representing Ebonyi south as Senate Deputy Leader
Other principal officers named are former senate leader in the 8th Assembly under Bukuola Saraki led senate, and sixth term Senator Ali Ndume as chief whip.
While Lola Ashiru Representing Kwara South, senatorial district Emerged Deputy Whip.
After the Announcement of the majority principal officers, the senate president called for an executive session to allow the minority parties agree on consensus officers.

In what seemed like a twist, the preferred candidate for minority leader Aminu Tambuwal was not named.
Expectations were high based on his experience as a former speaker of the House of Representatives and former Governor of Sokoto State.
