As the 2023 General Elections draw nearer, former Senate President and Presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bukola Saraki, has said that as an opposition party, PDP, can not win except it is united.

Saraki who made the call in Umuobiakwa, in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, said the interests of Nigeria supersedes their ambitions, and that was why they embarked on the mission, to consult Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and other critical stakeholders, on how to reach a consensus candidate, in the next year’s presidential election.

Describing the PDP as the only hope to rebuild and reposition the country, the former Senate President noted that, Nigeria was in a bad shape, and needed to be salvaged from the bad governance of the APC.

Saraki who was accompanied by three other Presidential aspirants, namely Bala Mohammed, Aminu Tambuwal and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, observed that this is the first time Presidential aspirants are coming together to seek a consensus candidate.

Governor Ikpeazu, while describing the decision as a welcome development, observed that with this move, the hope of a new Nigeria has been rekindled.

The team later moved from Abia state to Enugu State, to consult with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
