The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) South-South Zone elected new leaders at the just concluded elective congress in Calabar, Cross River State aimed at strengthening the party’s structure ahead of 2027 general elections.
The event, which took place on Saturday, was attended by top party stakeholders, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke.
Dan Orbih emerged as the National Vice Chairman (South-South), George Turner was elected Secretary, and Evelyn Wike secured the position of Treasurer.

Speaking shortly after receiving his Certificate of Return, the National Vice Chairman, South-South, Dan Orbih said the executives’ priority is to unite the party, ensure internal democracy, and work with other zones to stamp out impunity.
Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, in his remarks, emphasized party unity and sustainability while taking a swipe at those who place personal interests above collective progress.
He also warned against any parallel congress, stating that the Calabar congress remains the only legitimate one.
Delivering their goodwill messages, former Governor Donald Duke and other stakeholders stressed the need for a strong and vibrant PDP to achieve victory in the 2027 elections.
