The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wants the supervising Minister of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to step aside, until necessary investigations on the alleged fraud in the oil rich commission are concretely dealt with.
In a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, the party described recent revelations in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as a tip of the iceberg and a mockery of President Muhammadu Buhari’s corruption fight.
The PDP recalls that in April, it alerted Nigerians of the infractions and looting in the NDDC which according to it, was glossed over by the government.
The PDP insists it is uncomfortable with the seeming silence and inaction by the APC led Federal government, over the complaints of corruption in the NDDC, of which the recent exposè in the Commission validates and further signposts the complicity at the highest level, which the President and the APC are yet to provide any concrete defence to.
The party observes that following the allegations by the former NDDC Managing Director, Joy Nunieh, of massive looting, manipulation of budget processes, victimization, fetish practices by corrupt officials allegedly spearheaded by the Supervising Minister, Senator Godswill Akpabio, any credible government should have commenced immediate investigation into the matter.

The PDP however advises that the President should without further delays speak out on the issue, given the delicate nature of the Niger Delta.
