The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Moses Cleopas, winner of Bayelsa Central Senatorial Bye-Election.
Cleopas scored 120,019 votes ahead of Abel Ebifemowei of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Bolou-ere Ketebu of the NRM, who scored 18,947 and 366 votes respectively.
The election results were, however, rejected by party agents of the APC and NRM; alleging irregularities and consequently refused to sign off the final election results sheet.
The election results were nevertheless endorsed by state agents of other political parties present, upon which Senatorial Returning Officer, Emmanuel Akpan declared Moses Cleopas of the PDP as winner of the electoral contest.
