Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has brought together aspirants and key stakeholders with a view to calming rising political tensions ahead of the governorship primaries.

Addressing Journalists after a closed-door meeting at the Nasarawa State Lodge in Abuja, the governor expressed appreciation to party leaders, including former governors, members of the National Assembly, and other senior officials, for their continued support and engagement in the process.
Sule noted that the gathering provided an opportunity for open dialogue on how to better manage the growing number of governorship aspirants and ensure a smooth, rancor-free primary election.
He described the aspirants as highly accomplished individuals who deserve respect and fair treatment while urging them to continue to promote unity, transparency, and adherence to democratic principles

According to governor, the stakeholders overwhelmingly agreed to adopt direct primaries, a system that allows all party members to participate in choosing the candidate.
He said the decision reflects a shared commitment to transparency and inclusiveness, in line with democratic ideals.
Governor Abdullahi Sule assured all the aspirants that the process would be conducted fairly and in accordance with party guidelines and the Electoral Act.
On power rotation, governor Sule clarified that the discussion goes beyond zoning and it is rooted in fairness among the state’s regions.
He emphasized the importance of unity within the party, warning that any aggrieved aspirant choosing to defect after a transparent process would only be acting out of an inability to accept defeat.
