An affiliate of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, the National Association of retired paramilitary officers says the delay by government to pay pension arrears and the N25,000 palliative, is creating increased mental health and early deaths among senior citizens.
The National Secretary of NARPO Uche Uwate and the federal capital territory chairman, Moses Okhae mentioned this, while appealing to states to emulate the federal government to provide Palliatives and healthcare for rhe elderly.
Director General of rhe National senior citizens Center, Emem Omokharo, represented by Omini Odein said government has been putting strategies together to better the lot of senior citizens in Nigeria.
The retired paramilitary officers include those of immigration, customs, civil defence, road safety and correctional Centres.
