Whether out of solidarity or fear of the unknown, many residents of Enugu State stayed indoors on Monday as the much-anticipated #FreeMaziNnamdiKanuNow protest failed to take place in the state.
Early in the morning, the streets of Enugu, the state capital were unusually quiet as banks, schools, markets, and fuel stations remained closed.
Only a few vehicles and pedestrians were moving around.

Some students were seen walking back home after discovering that their schools had been unexpectedly shut.
Though there was no no official sit-at-home order, many residents voluntarily chose to stay indoors and that negatively affected economic and social activities across the city.
