The Justice Development and Peace Caritas Initiative JDPCI says there is need for stronger government policies and leadership at all levels to enhance inclusion of people with disabilities in societal affairs.
The group at a stakeholders symposium in Abuja to mark the 2024 International Day for Persons with Disabilities, also called for collaborative efforts to ensure full participation of individuals with disability in Nigeria’s governance system.
Persons with disability often face persistent denial of basic rights and stigmatization in the society despite the fundamental rights that stipulates equal treatment for all.

This stakeholders meeting is part of the Justice Development and Peace Caritas Initiative JDPCI’s Bold Action to Strengthen Inclusive Care in Communities, and promote social inclusivity and support for persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
Speakers here called for well-structured policies and programs that addresses the aspirations of persons with disabilities, emphasizing the need for inclusivity in public and private sectors.
Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future is the theme for this year’s international day for persons with disabilities, a platform to create awareness and promote the rights of persons with disabilities world wide.
