Former Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate and now chieftain of the opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC, Peter Obi has joined the #OccupyNationalAssembly protest in Abuja to demand electoral reforms.
This follows the failure of the Senate to pass the mandatory electronic transmission of election results in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
Obi’s presence has added pressure on the lawmakers from the protest by Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room consisting of 70 non-governmental organisations.

They plan to occupy the National Assembly complex from Monday until outcome of harmonisation of Electoral Act Amendment Bill, saying they lack confidence in conference committee to produce final legislation that will reflect the will of the people.
