The 2023 LP Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, has written to the Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga, on the allegation levied against him, over the planned nationwide protest next month.

Peter Obi is demanding an apology, and a retraction of the allegation, linking him with the mass protest, planned for August.

Obi wrote through his counsel, Chief Alex Ejesieme, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, saying that the allegation, which was widely published in the social and mainstream media, and read by many, within and outside the country, maligned his hard-earned reputation.

He said Onanuga painted Peter Obi as a man who indulges in violence.

The Presidential spokesman claimed on July 20, 2024, in his X handle, @aonanuga1956, that “Peter Obi’s supporters are the people planning mayhem in Nigeria, and that Obi should be held responsible for anarchy.”

As contained in the letter from Peter Obi’s counsel, the allegation may have achieved its “insipid” motive, as well-wishers from all around the globe have inundated Obi, to register their shock.

Peter Obi’s counsel, however, called on Onanuga to tender an unreserved apology to his client within 72 hours of the receipt of the letter, in not less than four national dailies.
