Petroleum marketers have received marching orders to abide by all extant rules, regulations, and safety precautions designed for rendering services to end-users of their products.

The orders came as the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Tank Farms, Petrol, and LPG Stations Compliance visits Kwara State to engage stakeholders on the need to comply with public safety measures.

Amidst growing outcry and concerns expressed across the country over the activities of petroleum marketers, transporters, and safety of their operations, the House of Representatives set up an Ad-hoc Committee to take stock of petroleum products marketing firms and evaluate their level of compliance with the industry regulation and guidelines.

The Technical Committee headed by Ibrahim Aliyu was in Kwara State following receipt of several petitions calling for the lawmakers to monitor and sanitize the compliance level of operators in the crude oil business.

The Chairman of the Committee, Ibrahim Aliyu said the visit was not meant to witch-hunt anybody to stimulate public safety compliance.

The committee also visited some petrol stations within Ilorin metropolis and observed some level of infractions.
