Three yet to be identified persons and eight others have lost their lives in a tanker explosion. The incident occurred in Gawu Babangida, Headquarters of Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State.
The deceased were said to be scooping petrol from the tanker as they were said to be carrying buckets and Jerry cans, According to an eyewitness, Usman Yakubu, the trailer was trying to dodge collision with another oncoming truck.

He said the affected vehicle was coming from Lapai to Izom when the petrol tanker fell. The Chairman of Gurara Local Government Council, Yusuf Ibrahim, confirmed the incident, describing it as unfortunate.
Yusuf Ibrahim said, the Local Government Council will assist the victims, accordingly, AIT gathered that twenty-two persons were affected.
Those who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at a medical facility in New Gawu.
