Residents of the new layout at Rumugbo in Obio Akpor local government area of Rivers state have been forced out of their homes due to devastating flash floods in the area.

They blamed the contractors handling road construction in the area for the flooding, citing the lack of proper drainage system and inadequate planning.

Flooding at Rumugbo New Layout, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, has been a major challenge but being exacerbated by the NDDC’s road construction project.

Residents initially thought the project would bring relief, but instead, it has caused more harm than good.
Nkechi Daniels, a widow with five children, lost her home and farmlands to the devastating flood just like several others.

The flood victims attributed the disaster to poor road construction, specifically the inadequate drainage system provision.

They are calling on the contractor to rectify this issue by channelling the drainage to the appropriate channel.

As Nchechi Daniels and several others grapple with the devastating impact of the perennial flooding, it is hoped that the contractor in charge will do the needful
