The newly appointed Acting Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Farouk Yahaya has assumed office at the Army Headquarters in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Yahaya who was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday becomes the country’s 22nd Chief of Army Staff.

Major-General Yahaya earlier paid a visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor at the Defence Headquarters for a closed-door meeting before proceeding to inspect the guard of honour. After the initial ceremonies, he observed a minute silence in honour of his predecessor, Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru and the other military officers.

Journalists were thereafter asked to leave the hall as the new Acting Army Chief addressed senior officers behind closed-door.
