Kebbi State Head of Civil Service, Sifiyanu Bena, has urged Nigerian youths and workers to refrain from engaging in acts of protest as the nationwide demonstrations loom.

Reacting to the planned August protest by youth across the nation, Safiyanu Bena expressed concerns over potential violence and property damage.

He was addressing the media in his office in Birnin Kebbi.

The state’s Head of Civil Service, emphasised that while peaceful protest is a constitutional right, it should not be marred by vandalism or incitement of communal strife.

While also acknowledging the fundamental right of citizens to express their grievances through peaceful demonstrations, he further underscored the importance of upholding law and order, and will recognise and respect the right of our youths to voice their concerns, through peaceful protest,” he stated.

“However, we strongly condemn any form of violence, destruction of public or private property, and any actions that could escalate into communal conflict.

He urged all stakeholders, particularly the organisers and participants of the planned protests, to prioritise peaceful means of expression, and avoid actions that could undermine the nation’s security and social cohesion.
