The Newly formed Pan- Nigerian group, National Consultative Forum, NCF says it is committed to wrestling power from President Muhammadu Buhari and his ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in 2023.
Briefing Journalists in a virtual meeting in Abuja, Co-Chairman of the group and former Speaker, House of Representatives and federal house Ghali Na’aba decried the current state of affairs under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former Speaker said APC has woefully failed the Nigerian people in every ramification; stressing that NCF will do everything within the law to send Buhari and his APC packing in the next general elections.
He further stated that the group will work with political associations across the country that share its ideology to build a new united Nigeria where citizens share common values and goals.
” We are aggrieved and we want a positive change. This forum is created to provide the platform for Nigerians to discuss ways and means to get out of the current quagmire we have found ourselves and
we are not shying away from seeking political power”.
” We are going to work with other political parties with similar ideologies with us to salvage our country “,_ Na’aba said.
His Co-Chairman, Professor Pat Utomi lamented Nigeria’s economic misfortune in recent years, worsening cases of insecurity that has discouraged both local and foreign investments as well as the suffocating impact of corruption.
Utomi said his group is “aggrieved at Nigeria’s pitiated condition and expect every reasonable citizen to be angry at the way the President Muhammadu Buhari administration is managing the affairs of the country.
He said the good news however was that his group has taken a decision to remedy the situation and will be ready to mobilize massively to effect the regime change.
According to him, Nigeria is heading for doom or crisis if the current trend is allowed to continue.
“We are not a government in waiting but a movement of people who want to make sure that government works for the people”. There is a need for urgent action”, he said
There were contributions from other members spread across all the six geo-political zones of the country; all of them itching for the change that will genuinely set Nigeria on the path of greatness.
A member, Jude Feranmi said the NCF is already mobilizing young people across the country and will work towards finding a common ground for meaningful development and change the narrative that pitched Nigeria as the “Poverty Capital of the World”.
Another member, Ali Wakili believed strongly that the only escape for Nigeria was to embrace the National Consultative Forum.
Nigeria has seen a number of similar political movements whose chain reactions had successfully forced regime change in the past even though a few of them were either hijacked or induced to abandon their course.
A Former Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Tanko Yunusa who is also a member of the newly formed NCF said the group has the right calibre of people to flush out any regime; especially against a government that has completely failed.
The National Consultative Forum NCF came on board the Nigerian political space on July 1, 2020.
