Appeal Court Tribunal sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has dismissed the petition of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, David Parradang, for lacking in merit.
The appellate court which upheld the judgment of the lower tribunal further affirmed the election of Hezekiah Dimka of the All Progressive Congress, APC, as duly elected Senator representing Plateau Central.
In a judgment that lasted for over two hours, the presiding judge, Justice Modaseer Oniyangi, while delivering the judgment, said the court cannot rely on hearsay evidence.
The court also held that the appellants were unable to link their evidence to specific areas of malpractices and non-compliance with the mandatory provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.
It further stated that the appeal is devoid of merit and thereby dismissed.
