There seems to be no end in sight to the internal crisis rocking the Plateau state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party over the struggle to control the party.
The crisis which has since polarized the party has led to the expulsion of some members by the state caretaker committee of the Party.
The unfortunate crack within the main opposition party in Plateau started shortly after the party lost the 2019 governorship election in the state
Exactly one after, the ripples are still evident and the crisis deepens, the polarization of the party has led to war of words between the two rival groups, with suspension and counter suspension. The latest being the expulsion of some members accused of staging a coup.
The expelled group, however described it as a joke of the century as they vow to hold on to their position in the Party
Political pundits on the other hand Express disappointment over what they described as an avoidable leadership tussle that is now tearing the party apart
With the suspended state Congresses and the Southern zone senatorial bye election expected soon, the coming days will no doubt be interesting as the crisis deepens while supporters of the main opposition party in the state hope for genuine reconciliation.
