Local government areas in Plateau State that share borders with neighboring states have urged to strengthen collaboration with them to tackle interstate crimes

Chairman of the Fact-Finding Committee set up by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, on the incessant attacks in Plateau State, retired Major General Nicholas Rogers, advised an assessment tour of Bassa Local Government Area, where an attack occurred while the committee was on the ground.

The committee was in Bassa to investigate the root causes of ongoing violence, but their fact-finding mission quickly turned into a firsthand experience as a scheduled meeting with the council chairman and security chiefs was abruptly interrupted by news of an attack in Teegbe village.

In an interface with traditional leaders and community stakeholders, both internal and external factors were identified as contributors to the persistent insecurity in the area.

The committee also visited mass grave sites in Zike and Kwall, as well as several villages devastated by recent attacks, documenting the scale of destruction and gathering testimonies from affected residents.
